Southern Tuscany is the stunning backdrop to some of the regattas of the Melges Sailing Series 2017.
The Marina of Cala Galera, just 3 km away from the beautiful town of Porto Ercole in seaside Maremma, hosts the Winter Series Event No.4 on 11-12 March, and the Melges 32 World Championship from 23 to 26 August 2017.
Built in the 1970s, the Marina di Cala Galera is often considered one of the best tourism ports in Tuscany. It can hold more than 80 vessels and offers a wide variety of amenities, including mobile cranes, repair services and dining opportunities.
The Melges 32® possesses one of the most diverse regatta schedules that includes many prestigious venues supported by an organized and well-established class association. At Cala Galera, the winter and summer sailing competitions will specifically take place in collaboration with the Circolo Nautico e della Vela Argentario (CNVA).
Boat lovers can also enjoy another thrilling event in Maremma: the XVIII Argentario Sailing Week will take place in Porto Santo Stefano from 14 to 18 June 2017. The Regatta hosts a selection of yachts belonging to Classic, Vintage, Spirit of Tradition and Metric classes and sees the participation of a variety of competitors from all over the world.
The yachts are moored along the spectacular ancient harbour of Porto S. Stefano, called “La Pilarella”, where crews enjoy the historical charm of the village and its restaurants, bars and boutiques straight on the docks. Yacht Club Santo Stefano (YCSS) is behind these intense 3 days.
