EMANUELE 'PEPPO' CANONICA

In 1998 Emanuele Canonica began to dominate the driving distance statistics with an average of 295,3 yards, just a little more than Tiger Woods (293,1 yards) and a little less than John Daly (305,6 yards). His fame of a hitter had already spread in 1996 during the Catalan Open in Spain, with his monstrous drive of 455 yards (hence the nickname 'Cannonball').

Born in Moncalieri in 1971, Canonica's successes at amateur level include the victory at the National Juniors Championship and the gold medal at the European Youths Championship. He turned professional in 1991. Since then, he has played in several competitions, including the European, American e Asian Tours. In 2005 he won the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
